Breaking In Questionnaire

1.   What have you learned from this experience?

I've learned to keep things simple, how to set-up a portfolio site and demo reel to show off my best work, and the ways to break into the industry.

I've also learned how to strike a pose!!  Posing is the foundation for blocking, building scenes and helps breakdown the animation.

2.   What steps do you need to do to get there?

One step at a time, one project at a time.  Break it down into "what to do next" and eventually something will break.  Don't be afraid to take chances and fail.  Keep all doors open, even the little ones.

3.   What job task do you think you will be interested in?

I would be interested in the following:

Animating
Story development/concept
Pre-visualization
Generalist
Filmmaker
Script writer
Producer

4.   What would you do differently now?

Keep things simple rather than focusing on the bigger picture.  Don't over-do it or try to show off - less is more.  Learn a better workflow - work smarter, not harder.

5.   What useful information would you like to share with the class.

NETWORK - NETWORK - NETWORK and COLLABORATE.  If you stay in your own world and don't allow others to help you or give you feedback, you will FAIL in this industry.  Doors will shut!!

BE NICE, BE HELPFUL.  Ego will get you NOWHERE and will lead to epic failure.

Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!  You should look for another occupation when it stops becoming fun.
